Foundation - Making a difference for people who are most in need
Emily Howard, a past volunteer with All Out Africa who came to Swaziland, joined our Kruger to Coast program in June 2008 and during her time here she worked on a Building project in a rural community in Mhlangatane, Northern Swaziland. While there, Emily witnessed the scarcity of water in the community and after consulting with the All Out Africa Social project co-ordinator and a member of the community, they decided that a water project to provide clean water through a borehole would address the needs of the community most at risk. Emily set about raising the funds during the year of 2009 and they were transferred into the All Out Africa Foundation account at the end of the year. In December 2010 Emily had contact with a past volunteer who had also raised funds for Social projects and they agreed to put all of the money they had raised together and donate it to be used on the installation of a borehole.
After two long years and many ups and downs, the borehole is now in progress, drilling has commenced and the people of Mhlagatane danced with excitement at the sight. It will not be long until the community can start using clean, safe drinking water!
