December in Hout Bay

So we’re coming to the end of another year and we’re extremely happy to say a very successful one for Hout Bay Backpackers! As we continue to work with All Out Africa and provide accommodation for volunteers we have also seen an increase in the amount of backpackers choosing to stay with us. Our top priority is always customer service as when it comes to marketing we do partly rely on word-of-mouth so if we provide an excellent service, guests will recommend us and hopefully even chose to stay with us again in the future.
We received a great reward for all of our time and effort by being rated No.1 on Trip Advisor at the beginning of this month. We have received some great reviews from previous guests and being rated top especially during the high season was an amazing end of year award for us all! We also had a group of Antipodean volunteers stay with us during November and they all enjoyed their time here in Hout Bay. Many took the chance to do abseiling and paragliding and all had a blast. They also spent an evening at the dinner theatre Madame Zingara and had an awesome time – photo of some of the girls all a dressed up above!
We are extremely busy over the Christmas and New Year period. We have filled up very fast and have a full house on most days which is exciting. As they say more the merrier at Christmas time. We have actually offered our guests and anyone in Hout Bay a 3 course Christmas dinner including a free glass of spritzer for R150 per person on Christmas day! We thought it was a great way to let everyone know who we are and again provide an excellent service so they might chose to stay with us one day or recommend us. We will let you know how it turned out in the New Year! We’ll also be organising a New Year’s Eve party for our guests that we have staying with us that evening and maybe have a braai and a few fireworks. I’m sure everyone will have a few drinks and countdown the minutes to 2012 together!
We attended a function at Tobi Tourism in Hout Bay. It was an end of year function and a fantastic chance for networking. We actually met someone who sets up Wiki Village websites and has offered to set up one up for Hout Bay Backpackers and All Out Africa which is awesome! We won a great prize at the function which was a free mountain walk tour for 2 people which we will donate to a lucky couple staying with us over the Christmas period. We also donated a prize of a free night in our private room and the lucky winner is looking forward to staying with us in the New Year! Shannon also landed a front page photo on the Sentinel Newspaper in a write up of the event which he was thrilled about!!!
So that’s it from our side. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
